Working towards a greener Tilehurst

Alok Sharma, the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Reading West, local Councillor Tom Steele and Sandra Vickers have planted several hundred flowering bulbs, including daffodils, on land along Corwen Road as a part of the Tilehurst Globe’s bulb planting project.

Commenting on the Globe’s initiative Alok Sharma said: “Members of the Tilehurst Globe, and especially the chairperson Jenny Cottee, are to be congratulated on organising this excellent project which will deliver a blaze of Springtime colour across Tilehurst.  We were very lucky to have some sunshine whilst putting in the bulbs but dedicated local Tilehurst volunteers have been out in all weathers making sure the planting is completed on time.”

Sandra Vickers added: “Whilst we were planting the bulbs several local residents spoke to us and commented on how pleased they were with this initiative.  All the new flowers coming up in the Spring across Tilehurst will certainly raise a smile with local people.”
