Reading West Conservatives Announce Candidates

Tuesday, 17 January, 2012

Among the candidates is Alanzo Seville who has stayed committed in changing things for the better in Minster ward. Since running for the councillors seat in 2011 local elections, he has continued working hard with the local Social Action group on various projects and Save the Bath Road reservoir campaigners in the bid to save Minster’s ecosystem. Since spending most of his life in Reading, Alanzo is passionate about providing care and support for vulnerable people and is keen to ensure that the local people are keeping the Council accountable for every decision made.

Robert Vickers has announced his candidacy for Tilehurst ward. He and his wife Sandra, who became a councillor for Tilehurst ward in the last local elections, have lived and worked in Reading all their lives and raised four children and three grandchildren. Robert is passionate about making Reading better for all, and as part of his daily job, Robert is used to stand up and represent his colleagues and provide sensible solutions to difficult tasks.

In Kentwood, local resident Emma Warman has been selected to fight the Kentwood seat she first won in 2008. A non-practising barrister, 35 year old Emma works for a life insurance company in London. Originally from Wales, she has lived in Reading for over 11 years in total and as well as being a councillor she is a governor of a local Kentwood primary school.

Imran Ishtiaq is continuing his bid to secure a seat in Battle ward. Imran has lived in Reading nearly all his life and has attended local schools in Battle and Tilehurst. Since his retirement as a liason officer for Thames Vally Police, Imran is still dedicated to tackle anti-social behaviour and make Reading a safer place for all its residents.

The party is confident of making significant advances at the 2012 local election, and will bring a distinctive agenda on public services, education and council tax. The candidates hope that the 2012 elections will be a vital moment where residents in Reading West will be able to vote for a positive agenda instead of failing plans of the centre- left agenda of the rest.
